The collection consists of photographs of the various Indian tribes of the Inland Empire Northwest, termed Plateau Indians. They are arranged according to tribe, using the same sequence Scheuerman devised for the negatives.

Biographical Note:

Richard Dean Scheuerman was born on April 18, 1951 and raised near Endicott, Washington. After graduating from Washington State University, he completed the program at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, as a member of the U. S. Air Force, and was awarded a diploma in Russian. With a grant from the Lutheran World Federation, he undertook research at the Centre for the Study of Religion and Communism in London. Currently a candidate for an advanced degree in history from Pacific Lutheran University, Scheuerman is the author of Pilgrims on the Earth: A German-Russian Chronicle (1974).

Scope and Contents note

The collection consists of prints made from negatives that were loaned for copying. They are concerned exclusively with the various Indian tribes of the Inland Empire Northwest, termed Plateau Indians. They are arranged according to tribe, using the same sequence Scheuerman devised for the negatives.
