Edgerton Album of Washington State College and Family
Photographs, 1906-1913
This collection was received at WSU Libraries' Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections in May of 2010 as UPC10-02 from Pam Medhurst of San Diego, CA. It belonged to Ms. Medhurst's grandmother, Mildred Eunice Edgerton Gilliland, who was admitted to WSC in the fall of 1908, and the album came to Ms. Medhurst through her mother. The album was processed by University Archivist Mark O'English in May, 2010.
ARRANGEMENT AND DESCRIPTION
The album is retained in its original binding and order, though a number of photographs have come loose. The first half of the album, approximately 155 photographs, deals with life at Washington State College in Pullman, Washington, from 1906-1911. The second half of the album, approximately 215 photographs, comprises family photographs in a variety of locations. The only identifiable subjects which receive a large quantity of coverage are images from Marshfield (later Coos Bay), Oregon, from 1911-1913, many of young Emma Bell Stadden (born 1911). Very limited coverage is given to a number of other items, including a trip to Alaka, the 1909 Yukon Pacific Exposition, and a Memorial Arch at Genessee, Idaho which appears to remember those who fought in the Spanish-American War.
