HISTORY

Need for both electric power and agricultural water supply resulted in multiple dams being placed on rivers in the Columbia River drainage basin in the mid 20th century. These included the Dworshak Dam (Clearwater North Fork, initial construction running from 1966-1972), Ice Harbor Dam (Snake River, 1955-1961), and the Little Goose Dam (Snake River, 1963-1970), among many others.

ARRANGEMENT AND DESCRIPTION

The collection consists of a number of photos taken over the period of the construction of several dams, from very early stages to near completion. The collection is organized by dam, with each of the three most commonly depicted dams (Dworshak, Ice Harbor, Little Goose) in their own folders, and the remaining five images of four other dams placed in a fourth folder.

With the exception of four of the five Dworshak Dam images, all images are approximately 20"x16". The remaining four Dworshak images are approximately 9"x7". All images are located in oversize storage cabinets.
