Abstract
Two related groups of snapshots by unknown photographers in Alaska ca. 1900-1905. The photographs include Alaskan scenes taken when Americans were into the region to make what they could of the last great gold strike of the 19th century. The first series consists of 12 mounted views with pencil captions and include images of a Native American woman and child selling curios, views of glaciers and mountain scenery. The second set of 20 travel photographs was taken aboard a 50-ton gasoline launch, the Valdez, and contains views of the "Copper Bullion" mine, Cape Spenser, and glaciers.
